As a part of our ongoing work in the community, Harrogate High School specialist teachers have been delivering lessons in local primary schools to give them an insight into secondary schooling. Some of the specialist areas include woodwork, music and art.
For the past term Mr Cocker has been working once a week with Hookstone Chase Primary School and New Park Primary School on a fantastic woodwork project. Students learnt various skills ranging from measuring and marking to sawing and filing. Each student was given a piece of wood and over a ½ term period they shaped and finished their own piece which then contributed to the construction of the full class project. On the final lesson, the students assembled the parts and produced a fantastic truck, trailer and digger.
Both primary schools are justifiably proud of their student’s achievements and the finished woodwork project is now on display in each school for all their visitors to see.< Back to all news stories
