Message from the Academy Head
We are small enough to care but large enough to provide a broad and balanced education that allows students to take their place effectively in society.
- our latest Ofsted report from November 2017;
- student progress and flexible curriculum opportunities;
- superb facilities;
- excellent transition planning at all stages;
- leadership development through ‘Student Voice’, our student body;
- specific programmes to develop our more able students.
The start of a new academic year is such an exciting time. Our year 7 students have settled in so well and have added a lovely bright feel to our wonderful school.
We bade many farewells to Andy Bayston at the end of term. These occasions are always bittersweet and everyone wished Pam, his wife and himself a fruitful retirement. However, I am sure he will continue to contribute to education in many other roles.
We look forward to the demands of this term, teaming challenges with creative outcomes, celebrating successes and planning improvements but most of all, enjoying being part of every student’s formative years.
Our Open Day on 23 September will showcase our vision with students demonstrating our values through practical events. If you are a parent or carer of pupils in Years 5 and 6, please find time to drop in between the hours of 9.30-13.00. We are also formally opening the new building at 12.30.
Friday 15 September saw the Laing O’Rourke construction team leave the site after nearly 2 years. All the staff at Harrogate High School would like to thank them for their efficiency, good humour and superb building standards. We owe our new building to their commitment.
A good school with outstanding leadership and management
