About me: I began my teaching career at Harrogate High School in 2011 as a newly qualified teacher and I have never looked back. During my time at the school, I have developed a wealth of knowledge of teaching and learning and have worked tirelessly to accelerate the progress and outcomes of each student.
Alongside my teaching role, I have also led on several whole school priorities. As the Careers Leader, I have strategic responsibility for the careers programme at Harrogate High School and lead the Career Hub which consists of a team of people who seek to raise knowledge, understanding and aspiration across the school. In this role, I work passionately to develop provision to ensure that students are well prepared for the next stage of their lives. In order to do this, it is essential that I continue to work with careers expert and business leaders in the Harrogate and wider areas. This is typified in our work with Louise Lunn who is the CEC Career Hub Manager for York, North Yorkshire, and our work with Lisa Avins, our Enterprise Advisor. Using their knowledge and experience has been invaluable and has allowed us to make ongoing improvements to our provision.

About me: I began my teaching career at Harrogate High School in 2010 as a newly qualified teacher. I have previous experience of working within the publishing industry, stock marketing and hospitality. I have used the skills I learned within those professions to help develop my organisational and communication abilities in education.
Within teaching, I have also led on a number of whole-school roles as well as working within the Senior Leadership Team. I have conducted several research projects to assess our current provision and develop improved opportunities for our students. An example would be when I surveyed the A-level curriculum and consequently was able to create new opportunities such as Sociology. I worked to develop our English curriculum and increase the cross-curricular links between other subjects.
I am currently working as part of the Careers Hub which seeks to raise knowledge and understanding of careers across the school and within this role, I have strategic responsibility for key stage 4.

Hospitality, marketing, teaching...
So far my career has woven a path through these three sectors, this has allowed me to develop a knowledge and skillset to support students in maximising their potential and aspiration.
I began my teaching career at an 11-18 comprehensive school in Leeds. In my 11.5 years there I worked my way from a humanities supply teacher to the assistant headteacher. I had oversight of key stage 4, alternative provision, PSHE and careers. I have many years experience in helping students make informed and aspirational choices at all transition points; whether that is deciding on GCSE options, whether to opt for A levels or apprenticeships or which university course is right for you.
As part of the careers team at Harrogate High School, I am overseeing year 7 and year 8. We will look to ensure all students are given the opportunity to consider all options available to them.
