Northern Star Academies Trust Staff Welcome Newsletter
Welcome to my first CEO Newsletter.
I hope you had a lovely summer break and returned full of renewed energy for the new term ahead.
This Summer children and young people across Northern Star Academies Trust schools have celebrated outstanding personal achievements and I would like to thank school leaders and staff for your hard work and commitment in striving for the best outcomes for all our young people.
As the newly appointed CEO of Northern Star Academies Trust (NSAT) my commitment is to ‘transform the life chances of all young people in every NSAT school’. My ambition is for NSAT to be recognised as a progressive group of North of England schools and a dynamic movement for School Improvement offering the best possible education, so that our young people have a wealth of choices in their lives.
Previously, as Headteacher of Skipton Girls’ High School, I have led an outstanding school, Teaching School and SCITT through continued year-on-year improvements, and worked as a National Leader of Education (NLE) to ignite and deliver positive change in schools facing challenging circumstances. I have a strong belief that with good teaching all disadvantages can be overcome and that as a multiacademy trust excellence must be the goal we are all collectively working towards. Our children and young people only get ‘one chance’ at education and to make this one chance count it requires us, as teachers and associate staff, to have a relentless positive outlook and a never give-up attitude.
Starting a new academic year provides us all with an opportunity to take stock and reflect- to review what has passed, to look to the future and to re-calibrate our activities and efforts. It is in that spirit that I look forward to meeting with many of you over the coming months to evaluate our vision and values, culture and climate, educational outcomes and discuss plans for the future.
With very best wishes, and I look forward to working with you over the coming school year.
Executive Headteacher (SGHS)
