30 year 7 students had a fascinating and informed day at the Railway Museum, York on a ‘Future Engineers’ visit. They learned about the development of the railways and then took part in many engineering skill focussed activities; they learned about magnetic power and how trains in the (not too distant) future will be moved by magnetic forces, they designed trains to demonstrate the importance of reducing air resistance and raced their model trains down a track with a wind tunnel.
Students also learned about some of the many different types of engineering opportunities by interviewing a Civil Engineer, a Mechanical Engineer and a Design Engineer.
