Welcome to the Design Technology Department

Technology is taught in three specialist rooms, all of which have had investment in recent years in equipment and facilities.

The most recently refurbished area has been the industrially equipped teaching kitchen with a purpose built serving area/ restaurant, named ´Le Bistro´ and, a new Textiles room

Course Overview:

  • Product Design

Assessment: Creating a portfolio of work based on; researching, designing, manufacturing and then evaluating a product(s)

Course Length: 2 Years

  • 3x 11 weeks per module in Year 7
  • 3x 11 Weeks per Module in Year 8

Progression to:

  • GCSE Materials (Textiles or Resistant Materials focus), WJEC Level 1/2 in Hospitality and Catering

Key Stage 4

We offer AQA GCSE Materials with a Textiles or Resistant Materials focus. alongside WJEC Level 1/2 in Hospitality and Catering.

All courses KS4 courses are a combination of an external exam and internal controlled assessment work based around developing a comprehensive portfolio of work based on; researching, designing, manufacturing and then evaluating a products(s)/outcomes.
