Enrichment at Harrogate High School

At Harrogate High School we offer a lot more than academic excellence.  We passionately believe that developing a thriving enrichment programme is an essential part of promoting employability, academic attainment and teaching young people the skills they need to make informed choices. These skills have benefits well beyond the classroom.

So, what is enrichment?

Enrichment is any activity which takes places beyond students’ existing timetabled academic pursuits and the requirements of their day to day life in school. At Harrogate High School we have developed a varied enrichment programme that students can immerse themselves in of which there is a short summary below:
Afterschool enrichment clubs (see the full programme)

  • Sporting fixtures
  • Music performances/competitions
  • Music lessons
  • School production performances
  • Student Voice
  • Work experience (year 10 upwards)
  • Volunteering
  • Careers, employability and enterprise
  • Local and national trips
  • International trips

Please note: all activities a free and are delivered between 2.30 and 3.30 unless otherwise specified on the programme

Away from the pressure of passing exams, enrichment extends students’ education and personal growth. It is all evidence of how a student has a wide array of skills and achievements beyond their subject grades.
