Quality Award in Careers– Careers Quality Mark

In April 2018 we achieved a successful re-validation of our Careers Mark which we first achieved in 2016.  During the day of inspection both students and staff were interviewed to ensure that a clear picture of our programme could be seen in addition to the evidence that we provided prior to the day.  The feedback following the inspection was incredibly positive, namely, with specific praise for our personal guidance and our Shaping My Future programme in years 12 and 13.  Some areas for improvement were identified and we will work on these in preparation for our next re-validation which will take place in 2020.  A snap shot of the comments that were given by students on the day can be seen below:

“I really like the Shine programme because it helps you to develop knowledge about university life and is always a fun day out. I also like the STEM trips because you see the mechanical devises and can use technical equipment that you don’t use at school”. (Year 9).

“My careers meetings have helped me to decide what A levels to take to help me get into my desired university” (Year 11)

“The taster sessions in 6th form gave me information about different subjects and helped me select my A levels”.

“The assistance I have received has been so comprehensive: everything has been tailored to meet my individual needs to help me achieve my goals; I cannot fault it” (Post 16 student).

How do we review our programme?

Our SMF programme is reviewed annually in July at the end of the academic year; this enables us to make additions to the programme in line with current guidelines and best practice.  We systematically gather feedback from students on the SMF programme and listen to comments and areas for improvement.  We use the feedback gathered as part of our annual review of provision in order to make necessary changes.

Would you be willing to help us to develop our programme further?

As a school we are constantly striving to improve our programme, if you feel that you could help us to develop our provision further please contact us so we can discuss this further.  We are always looking to develop new and exciting experiences for our students to ensure that they can be prepared for the next stages in their life.  Working together will allow us to develop our creative programme further.

Are you looking for apprentices?

If you are looking for apprentices we have a number of students who are seeking new opportunities.  We can help you to find the students that have the skills to meet the roles that you need.  Please contact us and we can speak further about this opportunity.
