Pastoral Team
Our Pastoral Team, led by Mrs Helen Ashton-Braithwaite (Assistant Head and SEN Co-ordinator) and Mr Mark Dixon (Assistant Head) comprises of: the Student Support Officers, who look after students´ progress and achievement; the Inclusion Team who support students with SEN both in and out of the classroom; the Attendance team and the School Nurse.
Harrogate High School is dedicated to inclusive principles and this is always at the forefront when planning for student progress and well-being. We have a large Pastoral Team which is made up of staff that work together to provide wrap around care for our young people. The team comprises of 7 teaching assistants who work on a 1:1 basis with students. Many of them have received additional training to deliver programmes such as Reading Intervention, Inference Intervention, Dyslexia Screening, support for students with English as an Additional Language (EAL), specialist support for Visually Impaired students, weekly mentoring sessions and many other activities.
