Therefore, just before the new term commences, all students will be invited to a live meeting with their year group Senior Leader who will go through the plans and logistics for the new term. They will answer any questions and support with first day anxiety. |
Transition arrangements
SEND Information Sharing
During the summer term, the Inclusion team meet with SENDCOs from each primary school. During each meeting, SENDCOs will share information with our team and highlight effective teaching and learning strategies that are specific to each child with an identified need. SENDCOs may also share the information of health care professionals involved with your family so as to ensure a successful and effective transition to Harrogate High School in September. If you feel that your child may need further support during transition, or throughout their time with us at Harrogate High School, please make your child's SENDCO aware who will then share this information with us.
Primary visits from key members of staff
Before the transition days, each member of SLT will visit each primary school. The purpose of this visit is to introduce a friendly face and allow time for specific questions that students may have. We will also deliver copies of the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio along with a summer activity sheet, which will be an area of focus on the return to school in September. Transition visits take place close to the time of the transition days to ensure that students have sufficient time to ask specific questions and feel comfortable in understanding the daily routine at Harrogate High School before they join us on the transition days.
